The Math/Science/Computer Program, MSC, located at Churchill High School,
is a four year program. Thirty students are selected for the incoming
9th grade class. Students must have completed Algebra 1 by the end of
8th grade in order to apply for MSC for 9th grade. Applications are
normally only accepted for the incoming 9th grade class.
curriculum is specifically designed for students who have an intense
interest in math and science. The courses are taught at a faster pace
and in greater depth. The Advanced Placement (AP) Program gives students
the opportunity to pursue college-level studies and receive advanced
placement and/or course credit upon entering college. In the MSC
program, AP courses are required in Biology, Calculus, Chemistry,
Computer Science, Physics, and Statistics. Students in the MSC program
take their MSC courses as a prescribed curriculum and select their
remaining courses from the regular Churchill High School course
offerings. All MSC students become full time students at Churchill High
MSC (housed at Churchill High School):
Livonia Public Schools Math/Science/Computer(MSC) Program is designed
for students who have high ability and high interest in the areas of
math and science. MSC students spend half of their day in the MSC
Program and the other half of their day in the regular high school
Eighth grade students who will have completed Algebra 1 by June 2014 are eligible to apply for the MSC Program for 9th
grade. MSC students become full-time Churchill High School
students. Transportation to CHS for MSC students is provided by the
school district from the student’s home high school (FHS or SHS). LPS
students and parents will be notified of the opportunity to apply to the
MSC Program in late October 2013. Testing for the program for fall 2014
is scheduled for Saturday, December 14, 2013. The MSC Program is open
only to students who live in the Livonia Public Schools School District.
Because of the testing that needs to be completed for admission
consideration, non-LPS students should request an application for fall
2014 by Friday, October 18, 2013.
Parents living in the LPS School District whose 8th
grade children are not currently enrolled in an LPS school and who
would like more information about the MSC program and the application
