Finance

The Finance Department manages the school district’s money and assets. The district continues to spend almost 70% of its budget on instruction and instructional support despite significant budget reductions over the past years. Our goal continues to be to maintain as many programs that we have instituted as possible.  Budget planning takes into consideration this objective, not just for this year but also for future years.

The limitation of Proposal A funding of public schools makes the district dependent on future state allocation of funds to support programs with few options to locally raise revenues to promote programs.

The school district is required to prepare financial statements each year providing detailed information on the financial position of the District.  As required by law, the statements are then audited by an independent accounting firm, which issues an opinion on the financial statements.  The District continues to receive an unqualified opinion by our auditors of our financial statements, which is the highest level of assurance provided.
