Functions of the Operations department
The Operations department is essentially the mission control center for the district. They keep all building functions operating smoothly.
A major role of the Operations department is maintaining each building in the district, inside and out. This includes everything from building repairs and construction to lawn maintenance and snow removal. All custodial staff and tasks fall under the umbrella of the Operations department as well. The Operations department is totally invested in ensuring that the students and staff of Livonia Public Schools are learning and working in safe buildings, both structurally and security-wise.
In addition to maintaining district buildings, the Operations department is responsible for running the warehouse and its inventory, coordinating mail service to all buildings, and making deliveries around the district. They are also the department in charge of purchasing, which includes receiving bids, compiling purchase orders, and vetting new vendors.
