Professional Development

Professional Development

Ongoing professional development is essential for staying on top of current research and laws related to English Learners.  Our staff actively seeks out professional development in areas of need we believe will most effectively increase our ability to support our students' growth.

We are also very excited that our EL Department is going to provide professional development in SIOP strategies to members of our general education staff this summer!  This will give our amazing Livonia staff excellent strategies they can use to increase the academic development of our EL students, and all students in the district.

Our staff recently had the exciting opportunity to attend the October 23-26, 2018 - WIDA National Conference, which is the largest conference of its kind for teachers of English Learners.

We are pleased to announce that the EL Department will be presenting a 4-Day Sheltered Instruction Professional Development for teachers in Livonia Schools this summer.  These strategies will help general education classroom teachers support English Learners in their classroom.
